The only thing left to do in his room is sponge paint clouds. I do really want to do that. This is a great bed! It had been my nieces but she really needed a young ladies bed. As you can see it has a desk area, the dresser and below is a trundle bed. He spent a couple hours the afternoon we got everything put together, climbing up and down the stairs. He was determined to sleep on the top. And he conquered them and was so proud of himself! The train decals were a gift from Craig's mom.
It looks like the head of the bed is against the wall, but there is enough space for me to get into the cabinet that runs the length of the bed behind the desk and the dresser. It is full of wipes, clothes that he is no wearing yet, yarn, a large bag of sentimental things...his going home from the hospital outfit, his first hair brush, first toothbrush, first shoes, a diaper from his first package....you get the idea. I am such a sentimental fool! It really is a great storage area!
So I had been telling him for quite a while as he approached five years old that five year olds learn how to get up to go potty in the night if they need to. So we are working hard at it this time. He went a long stretch a few months ago of being dry all night. In fact....I was so tired one of those nights that I forgot to put a pull up on him! He was dry the next morning. So this morning was day three of being dry. He is really wanting to sleep in his underwear but I am not ready for that yet! But when that times comes he will sleep in the trundle bed so I can more easily change the sheets.
This evening while he tormented his daddy I went through his clothes and put away summer things and got out winter things. I ended up with three bags of things that no longer fit him. He is not a size 6. It doesn't get easier for me. I remember doing this when he was outgrowing 24 months. Then 2T's. And on and on. My heart hurts a little every time I start making piles of things he has outgrown. Call my pathetic. I can take it. I have also got to stop buying in advance without checking what I already have. A couple weeks ago I bought him a few new long sleeved casual shirts. This evening I found several that I had bought last year on clearance for this year. So I will be returning those new ones. Plus a package of underwear that is too big. Way too big! I sorted through his socks and got rid of several pairs. He used to have such tiny cute little feet! It is just amazing how big he is growing. It seems every time I turn around he is doing something all by himself for the first time. Thankfully I know mothers never become obsolete!
I will now leave you with a Liamism: I am not sure what he and daddy were doing a few days ago but I heard him say 'oh, I just love you daddy!......mommy, he's my daddy and I'm his son.' I thought it was just so precious the way he said it. He really is hooked on his dad.
