We started school the first Monday of October. And things have been going really well. We study on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Friday is Craig's day...though so far things have happened every Friday that he really hasn't had to do anything yet. But that is the day I chose for him to do science and hands on type things with Liam. So far we have only missed one day that has not been made up. I was sick earlier this week so he did not have school on Wednesday. We probably will make it up tomorrow. And I am thinking that Liam and Craig can do a really easy experiment. They will fill glass glasses with water to different levels and listen to the different tones. Knowing Liam he will create a beautiful song from them.
Liam is enjoying school and asking for more when I say we are done. Now, I realize that this won't happen forever and we will have periods...maybe really long stretches, where I will have to beg and plead and threaten to get some work done...but for now he is doing so good and we are enjoying our time together. So that brings me to two things that happened that shows his soft heart. Each day we learn about a Character Quality. Last week one of the qualities was 'Teachable'. They used Hebrews 12:11 as the reference verse. So I used an example that came to my head to try to explain teachable to him. But I only got part way......this is what happened.
Me...."It would be like you had had candy and I told you that was enough and not to get any more candy, but instead of obeying me you snuck into the kitchen and took some without asking me........" that is as far as I got. His eyes opened up as wide as I have ever seen them, and they started filling up like lipid pools. And he said "But mommy, I would never do that to you!" Then he began to cry. I really got some fabulous cuddling time with that one! But did I learn from this? noooooooo.
The next day was 'Generous'. I had a perfect example.
"Remember yesterday when you had that gummy pizza and I asked if I could have one piece and you said no and wouldn't share any? That was not being very generous........." The tears started to fall. He fell into my arms....
"Mommy, I am so sorry, I will share now...." We had to stop everything until he went downstairs and brought up his last gummy pizza to share with me...as many pieces as I wanted. He would not let me stop at one.
NOTE TO SELF.......use some other naughty little boy as an example in the future!
Last week we had his picture taken for his birthday. Picture People are really good. A few years ago we went to them for the first time and I loved the way I looked in the picture! When you find someone who makes you like a picture of YOU you keep going back! And they were running a great sale. For $18 we got two sheets of wallets, a sheet of 4x6, a sheet of 5x7, an 8x10 and a 10x13. Plus we got one free 8x10 of a different pose. The picture on top is the different pose. He was being such a ham. He was telling the photographer what poses he wanted to do. I had to back him off a couple times. Got a little bossy. But he did so many cute poses all on his own. She just quit directing him after a while and seemed to be enjoying working with him. Here is the picture I chose for the main package.

Come on...be honest...is he not just the cutest little man you have ever laid your eyes on?
A couple days ago he was eating some loaded baked potato chips....I can't for the life of me remember what we had been saying back and forth but all of a sudden he walked up to me, put one arm around my neck and planted the sweetest, softest, saltiest, crumbiest kiss on my lips that I have ever had! I am not sure what came over him. But I LOVED it!!!!!!
I will leave you with a Liamism: Uncle Lance and Aunt Missy sent Liam money for his birthday. A $50 bill. When Liam opened the envelope and saw the money, his eyes got wide and he ever so softly said "Ohhhhhhhhh....a dollar........" Precious! The next day he begged Craig to buy him a train game for his kindle. The game was $1.99. Craig told him to get two dollars out of his helmet (yes, Liam keeps his money in a toy helmet). Liam runs to it and brings Craig back the $50 and a $5. Oh the innocence! And to finish this all off....this afternoon as we were leaving to run an errand in Albany, Liam remembered he didn't have any of his money with him. As Daddy ran into the house to get him some he said " that's my sweet daddy". Well, that's our sweet boy!
