Liam and Auntie Pam's Picture....
When I found out that Liam was going to be a boy I began praying for a woman to come into my life who had raised boys to godly manhood. He answered that prayer with a dear lady in my own church. Pam has been a precious friend ever since. Due to jobs she and her husband were forced to move from our area but once a month Liam and I make the drive to spend the day with her. As 'Turn Left' known to the rest of the country as the GPS, counts down the last couple miles, Liam's smile gets bigger and bigger and then he will start whispering "you reach your destiation, you reach your destiation" Then Turn Left says 'You have reached your destination" and the wiggling starts. He can't get out of the van fast enough. It is just so sweet to watch. Auntie Pam showers him with attention and love for the hours we are there. Such a special time!
So as you can see by the picture we spent National Drawa picture of a bird day with Auntie Pam and she and Liam worked long and hard on this fabulous piece of art.
I chose the Starling in the top pictrure because as kids we had one...my sister named him Boogy Monster and he was a monster. Somehow our family managed to raise him to adulthood and he lived in a large cage in my brothers bedroom. He was noisy and messy but we loved him. When he was old enough to release my dad took on the task. Taking Boogy Monster outside he let him go...getting back to the house he found Boogy Monster sitting on the back of the kitchen chair. This happened a couple times and a couple times the bird would stay in a tree for a bit then fly back into the house. Dad then took him in his cage out into the yard...same results. So what else can you do...you bring bird and cage back in the house and call it quits. I can't remember if there were any more attempts or if my parents had decided that Boogy Monster was just going to me a permanent member of the family, but he stayed. A couple months later we were planning our yearly vacation. These lasted a week and I am sure they had made arrangements for all the animals care. The night before we left, a very healthy starling was put to bed. The next morning he was dead on the bottom of the cage. My parents told us it was because he knew we were leaving and it broke his heart. I don't know what could have happened, but it was a solemn departure for three kids that day. Since then I have alway had a fondness in my heart for starlings. Oh, who am I trying to kid...I have a soft spot in my heart for all the creatures considered pests. Someday I will tell you my Nutria story!
