Can you imagine how grieved Jesus is? He came into this world in the most humble of ways. Giving up heaven and all its glory to walk this earth for 33 years. To die the cruelest death at the time, on the cross. For people who wanted him dead and those of us yet to come.
I wonder how many doors Joseph knocked on before being offered that stable. I wonder, did Mary cry from exhaustion, fear, frustration? Was she already laboring? Or did they get there a day or two before He was born? We don't know. We do know he was laid in the humblest of beds. We do know that the humblest of people were the first to know about him. I can't imagine what a sky full of angles singing must have been like! And we do know that there is still no room for Him in the 'Inn'.
As a society, as a nation as cities, towns, families and individual people we have said loud and clear....there is no room for Jesus! Even professing Christians are careful how much of Him they allow out. They pick and choose what part of the Christian walk they will walk. The easy way, the way that doesn't prick their hearts, the way that allows them to keep all the worldly stuff they like. I know...I am guilty of this. But God is pricking my heart. Will you let Him prick yours?
